Your Blue Badge questionnaire

This one is quick — about 15 minutes. A Blue Badge is issued by your local council, not the DWP.

Two routes to a badge. Some people qualify automatically — for example with PIP mobility at 8+ points for moving around, DLA higher rate mobility, or if you're registered severely sight impaired. Everyone else goes through a discretionary assessment. Tell us what you have and we'll take the automatic route if it's open to you, which is far quicker.
Hidden disabilities count. Since 2019 the rules explicitly cover non-physical conditions — autism, dementia, severe anxiety, and conditions where journeys cause overwhelming distress or put you at risk. Many people with these never apply because they assume a Blue Badge is only for wheelchairs. It isn't.

About you

Automatic qualification

If any of these apply, you qualify automatically and the application is straightforward. Tick anything you have.
8 points or more for moving around means an automatic badge. It's on your PIP decision letter — send us a photo if you have it.

Your walking and mobility

If you don't qualify automatically, this is what the council assesses. Be specific about distance and what happens when you try.

Hidden disabilities and journeys

Please don't skip this section even if walking isn't your problem. Risk and distress on journeys is a full route to a badge in its own right.

Your conditions and evidence

Most councils need a recent photo, proof of address and proof of identity. We'll tell you exactly what yours wants and how to send it.

Anything else?

Send your answers

We'll check whether you qualify automatically, prepare your council's application, and tell you exactly what evidence to supply. Usually in touch within one working day.

Rather do this on the phone? Send your name and number and we'll call you.
